OUR REUNION

The guys and I would like to give a HUGE Thank You to everyone for making both our Reunion show and appearance at the KEEP IT TRUE Festival last week so successful. It was great to see so manu old and new friends here at home and over in Germany. The Icelandic volcano threatened to cancel our KIT appearance, but at the very last moment the Frankfurt airport opened and we made it as planned. The crowd was amazing and made us feel like the greatest band on Earth before, during and after our performance.

Several clips have been posted on YouTube and the whole show is professionally filmed for a complilation DVD each year and I also hope to get our entire show edited as well for possible future use. Thanks so much to Oliver and everyone at KIT for inviting us and showing us such a brilliant time the entire visit.

As for the local Reunion show, I had everything flmed with 7 or 8 cameras along with the audio bounced down to multi-track. I plan to (eventually) edit everything and make the show available in some form in the future. I have also recorded nearly all of our rehearsals over the last year and filmed video of a few of them including the entire last rehearsal before our shows. For those of you who were not able to attend a friend from Chicago posted amazing video of most of the show on his FaceBook page. He was right up front and the footage looks great. So, if you are on FaceBook just do a search for Mark Creevy and check out the clips in his "Video" section.

OUR NEW ALBUM

HINDSIGHT: Suffering Hour and Reason Revisited is now available through CDBaby. Digital downloads should also be available soon through their partner sights including Amazon & iTunes. I am working on getting physical copies overseas so our non-US fans can get it without the outrageous shipping charges. Some copies will also be available through STORMSPELL records as well, along with our ANNIHILATION COMPLETE CD/DVD released by them last year.

Thanks again to Eliran Kantor (Testament, Mekong Delta, Sigh) for the beautiful cover & artwork and Maor Appelbaum (HALFORD, YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, THERION, etc) for a brilliant job mastering everything.

As we approach the up-coming St. Louis Reunion show on the 18th, I wanted to mention a couple local happenings...

Tom Terbrock has invited the band down to the K-SHE studios for an on-air interview on MONDAY NIGHT METAL. We are scheduled to be on the show next Tuesday night (April 13th).

I had a great conversation with author DX Ferris (who wrote a book on Slayer's "Reign in Blood" album). He was interviewing me for the RIVERFRONT TIMES, so look for a write-up on the band in next week's issue.

ANACRUSIS has also been invited to take part in "Record Store Day 2010" at VINTAGE VINYL. We are scheduled to do a guest DJ set in the store from 7pm-8pm Saturday April 17th. We will have our new CD HINDSIGHT: Suffering Hour & Reason Revisited available for the very 1st time. So, even if you're coming to the show the next night we'd love to have you come down and say "hello" or hang out with the band.

Remember, the Reunion show on the 18th is a FREE event with somewhat limited capacity, so get there a little early to be sure to get in. We will have new t-shirts, the new HINDSIGHT CD, the limited-edition Annihilation Complete CD/DVD and a limited number of DVDs from our 1993 Screams and Whispers concert at Mississippi Nights available the night of the show.

We are excited about the show (and of course the KIT Festival later in the week) and we can't wait to play for you all again after so many years!

The new album HINDSIGHT will be ready for mastering very soon and should be available in time for our April gigs. In the meantime I've posted a full, mastered song for a taste of how the the old material turned out this time.

PRESENT TENSE (radio promo)

We've officially announced our hometown Reunion show which will be held on April 18th. The show is free and an all-ages event, so we hope to see all of the old (and new) ANACRUSIS fan from around the St. Louis area turn up for what will be our 1st show with all original members since 1990. This will be a warm-up for our appearance at the KEEP IT TRUE Festival in germany a few days later. For the warm-up show we'll be playing our full set plus a few extra surprises.

January 2010

We're finally finishing up recording the final tracks for the "new" ANACRUSIS CD. The title of the album will be "HINDSIGHT: Suffering Hour & Reason Revisited". The 2-CD set will feature both our debut album SUFFERING HOUR and our 2nd release REASON along with the classic ANACRUSIS demo track "Apocalypse" all fully re-recorded by the original lineup of Kenn Nardi, Kevin Heidbreder, John Emery and Mike Owen. The package will also feature a 24-page full-color booklet with lyrics and lots of photos both old and new. Both of these classic albums have been out of print for many years, and we hope old fans and new will find some new life in these re-recorded songs.

The excellent cover-art is being created by Eliran Kantor (Testament, Mekong Delta, Sigh). Mixing is nearly complete and mastering will be handled by Maor Appelbaum who has worked with Yngwie, Rob Halford, Dave Ellefson's F5 and many many more.

We are still working out details of where the album will be available, but there should be copies on-hand for our appearance at the KEEP IT TRUE XIII Festival in Germany this coming April.

SUFFERING HOUR Revisited PREVIEW

After completing new demos for several of our old songs, recording has begun for all-new versions on SUFFERING HOUR and REASON. Though no definite plans are in place at this time as to the final outcome of these recordings, we have decided to proceed with plans to completely re-record both CDs with the full, original line-up. You can track the progress of this project along with our live rehearsals in the 2009 Rehearsal Diary section.

In late 2008, I was contacted by STORMSPELL Records about re-releasing our 1987 ANNIHILATION COMPLETE demo in a special CD/DVD package. I agreed and put together the music and video content along with the providing the layout and liner-notes. This release led to our invitation to play at the 2010 KEEP IT TRUE XIII festival in Germany.

At around the same time, our original drummer Mike Owen was moving back to St. Louis after several years on the West Coast. He and I began discussing the idea of playing together and invited our bassist John Emery to join us. Things went well and we decided to agree to doing the festival. Next we contacted our guitarist Kevin Heidbreder and though he wasn’t immediately available for rehearsals, he definitely wanted to participate in this mini-reunion.

In early February, John, Mike and I began rehearsing as a 3-piece, with Kevin planning to join us before the end of May.

Along with the KIT XIII Festival in April 2010, we also hope to play a few more shows during the next year or so before finally retiring the band. At this time, we are also planning on re-record the entire SUFFERING HOUR and REASON albums, with hopes of releasing them as 2-CD sets containing the re-recorded versions along with the long-out-of-print original recordings. We have always felt that the poor-production and rushed performances hindered many of the songs, and with all four original members together again, we are thrilled to have a chance to re-record this material and hopefully present it in a much better light. We also understand that there are those fans who would like to have the original versions they have become familiar with over the years and this is why we hope to include both the old and new versions in this project. This is all in the early planning stages and no final decision has been made on when these recording will be available.

I have decided to create a section on this site to track the progress of rehearsals leading up to next year’s festival (and any other shows) along with a “diary� tracking each rehearsal and recording session as they occur. Eventually, we would like to include some audio and/or video clips along with photos from these sessions.
